Adam Huggard
Associate

Adam is a gifted designer and project manager. Prior to joining FDA in 1998, Adam wore many hats both in the technical and design aspects of theatre, and is thus able to synthesize a mix of perspectives from these viewpoints. His expertise lies not only in project management, but in CAD modeling. He provides computer modeling skills on a number of projects, and is routinely called upon to write new software to help FDA's design team realize its visions.
He has worked on academic as well as professional theatre projects. Currently he is project manager for the Las Vegas Performing Arts Center as well as a new theatre for the Venetian Hotel/Casino in Las Vegas. He managed the renovation of the Westport Country Playhouse in Westport, Conn.; the Walker Art Center's Studio Theatre in Minneapolis; Simon's Rock College of Bard, in Great Barrington, MA; the Katzen Center for the Arts at American University in Washington, D.C. and a new recital hall at Drew University.
Previously, he helped design and specify state-of-the-art Ethernet stage lighting systems for the renovation of Radio City Music Hall in New York. He has provided lighting and rigging expertise for the Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin; the renovation of the Historic Apollo Theatre in New York; California Institute of the Arts' new multipurpose theatre in the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles; the Bushnell Theatre in Hartford, Ct.; the Hobby Center in Houston; the Hollywood Bowl; McCarter Theatre in Princeton; the new Shubert Theatre on 42nd Street; and the Oklahoma City Civic Center Music Hall.
In his first three years at FDA, Adam designed theatre lighting systems for 17 performance spaces on ten Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise Lines luxury ships, working in Turku, Finland, Saint Nazaire, France, and Papenberg, Germany. At Miami Performing Arts Center, he collaborated on the design of a unique stage lighting system integrated in the orchestra shell canopy of the new concert hall.
Before coming to FDA, he studied and worked summers at Williamstown Theatre Festival and for the Kitchen Theatre Company in New York, where he co-designed scenery and lighting on "The Kathy & Mo Show," "Julie Johnson," and "Fool for Love," among other projects. His scenic design for "The Man Who Could See through Time" at Seven Angels Theatre in Connecticut won the Connecticut Critic's Circle Award (2001). He also designed lighting for "A Floating Roof Over Our Heads" at Chelsea Playhouse, and "Murder, Madness, MacBeth" both with Mabou Mines in New York City and at Trinity College in Hartford.
Adam is a 1998 graduate of Ithaca College, with a BFA in Theatrical Production Arts, with a concentration in lighting and scenic design. At Ithaca he designed a number of productions for the Theatre Department, among them "Loves Labor's Lost," "One for the Road," "The One Act Workshops," "Down in the Valley," and "Gianni Schicchi."
