Peter Rosenbaum
Senior Associate

Peter, who joined FDA in 1994, is both a designer and project manager on a variety of significant spaces.

Currently he is project manager for the renovation of Alice Tully Hall, The Juilliard School, and the Film Society at Lincoln Center in New York City. Additionally, he is directing FDA’s work on the $140 million Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, working with the London-based architecture firm of Nicholas Grimshaw & Partners. He spearheads FDA’s work on the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston and the Eyebeam Atelier Museum in New York City, both with Diller Scofidio + Renfro Architects.

He continues to serve as project manager for the Intar and Ensemble Studio Theatres in New York City; the Silver Springs Town Hall with Machado + Silvetti, and the Randolph Macon Women’s College Dance Studios, with Sasaki Associates.

For five years, he shuttled between international ports as FDA’s project manager for 17 theatres on ten Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise Lines ships built in Turku, Finland; St. Nazaire, France; and Papenburg, Germany. The first of these, RCCL’s megaship, "Voyager of the Seas," was launched in late 1999. He has played the key role in coordinating all aspects of the design of the European-themed, 1,300-seat theatres, show lounges, and flexible, high-tech 900-seat multipurpose entertainment spaces that convert from broadcast studios for game shows to ice rinks for recreational and professional skating. He also managed all entertainment aspects of the Royal Promenade - a four-story, interior street longer than a football field on RCCL’s new "Voyager" class, the world’s largest cruise ship.

Peter worked on the renovation of the Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center; the new Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls; managed the recently completed Clay Center for the Performing Arts, Charleston, W. Va., and assisted in the design of seating layouts for the Chicago Orchestra Hall renovation. Peter was also the project manager for the new American University campus auditorium in Cairo, Egypt, with Legoretta+Legoretta Architects.

His other creative efforts include working as set designer with the Peter Royston Theatre company in New York and on Shakespeare’s "Coriolanus" at the Theatre Row Theatre. He co-authored an on-line curriculum for Columbia‘s Graduate School of Architecture which he presented at the IEEE conference in Atlanta and appeared in the November, 1995, issue of Progressive Architecture. He has also lectured on cruise-ship theatre design and technology at the LDI conference in Orlando.

Peter has designed and continues to manage FDA’s information technology systems, as well as our website and intranet.

Peter received his B.A. magna cum laude at Harvard in Visual and Environmental Studies (architectural design) and his M.A in Architecture from Columbia University.
